Wine Food Pairing – Austrian mushrooms and special "Juice!"

Ahhhh …. Wine Food Pairing …. my adventures continue through Austria!

A picture perfect autumn day, topped by a blue sky, the sun is shining and the snow on the mountains in the background. see my husband and I decide to get our bikes and ride the local bike path, where it takes us. Our Maltese, Houdini, of course, with me riding in my basket in front! We caught up with the way Breitenau, a small village south of Vienna, and the wind, the way we goSchwarza flow through the tiny villages and Loipersbach Natschbach. Typical of small villages with many European charm!

The Austrians are very serious about cycling …. There are several rest stops along the path with benches, fountains, and waste storage. Most of the locals are very friendly and happy to offer a good Morgan (good morning), as we drive past.

We ride over 18 miles and give you the slightly larger town of Neunkirchen, where we come from an opena coffee shop, greets us with their ideas. Forward, the Austrian special "juice" is now available. Forward is the new wine, which at its first "stage" of fermentation only …… Carbonic acid, alcohol content white and misleadingly high, it is a great thirst-quenching thirst! Of course we had to go in! I can cycle in a beautiful autumn day, but I do take seriously my food wine pairing right …. Work, work, work!

Autumn is mushroom season in Austria, in fact, many of them as a guest house special menu …. we decide to go with the mushroom-Special, Szeged goulash soup and pumpkin ….. YIKES …. I think your eyes are bigger than our stomach!

Creamy pumpkin soup arrives first …. garnish with fresh chopped chives, roasted pumpkin seeds and a drizzle of pumpkin seed oil, it is easydelish! Our first cup storm seems to have disappeared, and we for another round …. Houdini is still happy with his bowl of water! Several patrons stop and chat on our table, and Houdini Dog … he is quite the show stopper …. My husband is Austrian, so of course he speaks German, but my German is poor at best and while he talks about easily, I try to explain that Houdini and I only "English"!

Our main meal arrives and my mushrooms (porcini), pipinghot …… dredged with bread crumbs, fried crisp and golden ….. within the fleshy fungi and wet …. which is served with a spicy sour cream dip with chives .. ….. YUM! I also have a traditional Austrian potato salad is mouth watering. My husband is a mixture of tender beef goulash with cabbage, potatoes and peppers …. Art of the Austrian Hungarian goulash is doing! Houdini and my husband both think it's wonderful! Of course we need another stormWash it all down! Now this is Wine Food Pairing at its absolute best! The glittering tower that pairs wonderfully with tradtional Austrian dishes.

It 's time to go, we are a grappa "digestive aid", but offered to drop because we have to ride our bikes all the way home! It 'been a match and another great evening wonderful adventure in Wine Food! CHEERS!
